Joanna Prokurat has joined the ranks of TPA Poland Partners, taking on the position of Partner in the Tax Advisory Department in TPA’s Warsaw office. She is a practitioner of Polish and international tax law with nearly 20 years of experience including advising on all taxes for Polish and foreign entities from many industries.
Joanna is an experienced practitioner of Polish and international tax law. She has many years of experience in advising on all taxes for Polish and foreign entities operating in all industries – from traditional to the most innovative. She has also led numerous projects involving state aid law (not only the implementation of tax instruments), as well as social security and gambling law.
Her expertise includes tax reviews, including due diligence reviews, tax advice on financing or its restructuring. She advises clients on tax handling of transactions, including mergers, demergers and conversions, as well as those involving shares, stocks or other financial instruments, an enterprise or its organized part or assets. Advises entities planning or carrying out new investments, including on obtaining and implementing tax and non-tax support instruments. Assists in the tax structuring of new ventures, including innovative ones (e.g. fintech, data, cloud). Represents taxpayers or entities incurring tax liability in tax and court proceedings, as well as criminal and criminal-tax proceedings. Provides ongoing tax consulting services.
Joanna has developed her professional career to date in top Polish and international consulting firms and law firms. She has been repeatedly recognized in many Polish and international legal and tax rankings as an undisputed expert in her field. She holds a doctorate in legal sciences and completed her doctoral studies in economics. She is qualified as a legal advisor and tax advisor. She shares her knowledge and practical experience as an author of publications on legal and tax issues and as a lecturer (including at universities) and trainer in the field of taxation.
